  • Overview

    Researches, plans, tests and designs quality chemicals, adhesives, tapes etc. to be used in mechanical fastening products and/or systems. Develops new ideas and scientific discoveries, which can be used in the manufacture of new and existing products. Works to improve the efficiency and profitability of the manufactured product.

    Responsibilities

    • Researches and analyzes data such as internal or customer design proposals, specifications, and industry standards to determine feasibility of design and/or application.
    • Devises new processes, or refines existing ones, to optimize the manufacturing process;
    • Develops and carries out test plans, supervises process trials internally or at outside laboratories.
    • Designs or develops new products, systems, and test procedures.
    • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
    • Prepares requirement and procedural documentation as required.
    • Develop safety procedures for those working with potentially dangerous chemicals
    • Works with engineering and shop personnel in fabrication of prototype products and development of methods and procedures for testing products.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • M.S. in in either synthetic or physical polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related field.
    • Ten years prior experience in a related field, industry, or work environment is required.
    • Sufficient skills and experience to develop products and test procedures.
    • Sufficient experience to develop adhesive product requirements and documentation.
    • Experience in coatings synthesis, characterization, and application testing.
    • Epoxy, Polyurethane or Acrylic Coatings & Adhesives Experience.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or similar programs.

    Education and/or Experience
